I've had 3 sets of tires on the M Roadster. The original Michelin Pilot Sport in 225/45/17 and 245/40/17, then Bridgestone Potenza S-03 in 235/45/17 and 255/40/17, and then Bridgestone RE-01R in 235/45/17 and 255/40/17.
On November 5, 2011 I ordered a set of Bridgestone RE-11 in 235/40/17 and 255/40/17. I've grown tired of having a larger diameter front tire than rear tire, and didn't want the weight of a 265/40/17 in the rear. While TireRack recommends an 8" wide wheel for a 235/40/17 tire, the E36 M3 came with 235/40/17 tires on 17x7.5" wheels. I also know that Randy and Sue ran 235/40/17 tires for quite some time on their cars.
The total from TireRack for the RE-11 tires (with shipping) came to $1010.20.
I'm not sure when I'll have the tires mounted, but I expect to have it done at Motorwerks Group LLC in Commerce Township.
I need to check the front toe on my car. The inside of the tires are severely worn. I know some of the wear is due to driving the car for too long with maximum camber, but I think my toe is out.
